It’s been a while, guys! I feel like I’ve been hibernating this winter. This is traditionally when my photography slows down a bit … living in cold and brown Virginia doesn’t exactly inspire me with its “beauty” 
. Every year I tell myself I’ll be better about getting outside – but nonetheless I haven’t taken many photographs lately. I have been busy, though – my girlfriend has been visiting me for quite some time now and since we live in seperate states I’ve been taking advantage of the closeness as much as possible. We’ve been hiking regularly, testing out clothing systems for this upcoming year when I am going to begin backpacking with my camera to really experience nature and travel to new locations for photographs out of the reach of day hikes. Besides hoping to photograph in some areas this month, I do have a very exciting trip to New Hampshire planned for the 1st of February. It’s going to be extremely cold, and I believe extremely beautiful! I hope to photograph winter landscapes in the white mountains, as well as some boreal bird species such as Gray Jay, Boreal Chickadee, Crossbills, and others!
For now – I will show another of my images from West Virginia in the fall. In this image, I liked the way the busy forest was simplified with the repeating vertical trunks. Additionally, I like the bright fall foliage and harsh sidelighting.
