Roaring Run Falls in Autumn, Jefferson National Forest, Virginia

Well, I just recently went down to southwestern Virginia to attend and photograph a good friend’s wedding. The weekend was really great all around. The foliage was beautiful, and I managed to spare a bit of time to head to some local waterfalls. Overall, I was rushing a bit as I wanted to spend time at the wedding, but I’m glad I got the opportunity to photograph these beautiful waterfalls. This one in partcular, Roaring Run Falls, was especially nice with the swirling eddies of leaves and foam.

Yellow Maple Tree, Green Mountain National Forest, Vermont

Here is another one from my trip to Vermont. This lichen-covered Maple Tree was in its peak color, and situated perfectly in front of a distant mountain slope with evergreen trees covering its face. I used a longer lens to isolate the section I found most photogenic.

A Pair of Birch Tree Trunks Against Colorful Maple Trees in Autumn, Green Mountain National Forest, Vermont

Here’s another one from my trip to Vermont. I made it a personal goal to photograph Birch Trees whenever I found them in photogenic locations, as I find them to be among the most beautiful of all eastern trees. When I spotted this pair of trunks along the road, I had to photograph it!

A Beautiful Creek in Autumn, Green Mountain National Forest, Vermont

Instead of my annual visit to West Virginia for fall foliage, I decided, upon recieving a phone call from my good friend Alex, who was already in Vermont, that I should change plans and take a trip up there this year. It was a lot of driving, but I’m glad that I did. We photographed there for 4 days, based mostly out of the middle section of Green Mountain National Forest. The foliage was peak, and the weather was rainy and great for photography. This image is from one of many amazing creeks flowing out of the mountains, and will be the first of many photographs posted from Vermont.

Pink Sunrise Rapids, Great Falls National Park, Virginia

Well, I couldn’t be without photoshop and went ahead and bought a copy which just got finished installing about 30 minutes ago! This is the first image I’ve processed since getting my new photoshop, and it is from Great Falls National Park, Virginia about 2 weeks ago. The sunrise was largely a bust in the direction I needed the color in, but the sky and a few clouds ended up glowing pink in the opposite direction. I took advantage of the situation and made some closeup images of these small rapids below the main falls.
