A Portrait of an Adult Northern Watersnake (Nerodia sipedon) Swimming in Water

This is an image from my trip to Upstate New York. My friend Eric Dresser has a family of these watersnakes at a beaver pond on his property, and oddly, they are practically tame, repeatedly coming back to land just feet away from us within seconds of being scared into the water. Pretty unique!
