A Visit to Scott’s Run Nature Preserve
This morning I went to a small stream about 10 minutes away from Great Falls National Park (a favorite haunt of mine). The stream is known as Scott’s Run and is located, of all places, in Scott’s Run Nature Preserve. This was my first time visiting the preserve, and it won’t be my last! The stream itself is runoff from one of northern Virginia’s crown jewels - Tyson’s Corner ( a huge mall
. Isn’t northern Virginia great!). However, the forest around the stream is some of the prettiest I have seen, and surely the nicest Beech forest I’ve come across. I hope you enjoy the pictures and that thoughts of runoff and pollution won’t ruin the experience - although it is all the more reason to conserve what we have left.

Nice photos, pretty trees. Looks like Vermont did a month ago!

Thanks for the comment - I’m glad you like them.
That’s one nice thing about living in Virginia… I can travel west of my home and hit West Virginia mountains in 3 1/2 hours and get peak color there in early october, then a couple weeks later hit Shenandoah for peak, and then at the end shoot locally for peak.

Chris,
These are all fantastic. Looks like the foliage down in VA is peaking. There’s basically no leaves up in MA at this point. =(
