Yup, it’s time for another Great Blue Heron photograph! This particular area is one of about 4 very popular fishing areas for the herons, and is often fought over. When this image was taken, the water was quite high and turbulent. By using a slow shutter speed, but still not extremely slow, I was able to capture the movement of the water while still retaining texture and being able to show the power of the rapids.

Thanks for the comments guys.
Hi Chris,
I am a photo enthusiast, and i post most of my pictures on trekearth.com.
I just wanted to take this opportunity by congratulating you for your hard work in the photography world. I’m deeply impressed about your images on your site, very sharp and detailed photos with a vast space of breath taking while surfing your simple and unique website.
Once more, i congratulate you and keep the camera shooting.
Oh!..i just remembered your sad story on your blog when you said thieves grabbed your gadgets in your car, which i really felt sad, and i can imagine how you really felt. I hope you replaced them now, and this time be more cautioned.
With my best wishes to you.
Regards,
Hussein
Hi Hussein,
Thanks a bunch. I appreciate the kind comments on everything. Yeah, I’m being much more careful about where I leave my new gear these days!
