Hacked!

That’s right, Haxxed! It was a royal PITA, but after some work I’ve got my blog back up and running. I had to re-create the blog posts from this year, which is why they all read as if they were created on June 9th. Anyways, I’ve been busy having fun this spring, with many images from West Virginia in particular. I’ll try to post many of them within the coming days. Stay tuned!

Happy Valentine’s Day

Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone out there! I hope it was a good one.

Sick!

Hey everyone,

I apologize for the lack of posts lately. I’ve been sick with an absolutely horrible stomach bug … and I must say, getting on the computer to write just doesn’t have the same appeal when you’re feeling that way. I hope to be making some more posts in the next couple days … and now I’m off to lay down.

Home Again

As I write this tonight I’m back in Virginia. It was a wonderful winter break with many good times had and just as many good photographs taken. I’d like to say thanks to Kari for such a great time together, to my grandparents for letting us stay at their house, and my cousins for always keeping things interesting.

Winter Break in Upstate New York

As I type this I’m all packed and ready to go for a nice vacation in snowy upstate New York. This has already been a remarkable year so far up there with, as some birders are saying, the best winter finch irruption since 1997. What this means is that a few species of birds normally found much farther north are coming south in an effort to find food. The main birds sighted so far are Bohemian Waxwings, Common Redpolls, Evening Grosbeaks, Pine Grosbeaks, and Pine Siskins. Of these, I only have decent shots of Evening Grosbeaks. Needless to say, I’m very excited to get up there! I also hope to photograph some hawks, particularly Rough-legged hawks and Northern Harriers in the grasslands near Lake Ontario. Additionally, snowy landscapes are always a possibility (as well as whatever else comes my way). Due to limited internet access where I will be staying, I will be posting a bit less. However, I will do my best to keep you updated.

To get us starting, here is an image of a female Evening Grosbeak taken a couple winters ago.

Thanksgiving Break

Hello everyone. I will be traveling to northern New Jersey over Thanksgiving break and don’t plan to be back until Monday. I will try to make some posts while I’m there, but can’t promise anything. I hope everyone that celebrates Thanksgiving has a wonderful holiday, and everyone that doesn’t has a wonderful week!
