Well, I’m back from my week long trip down to North Carolina. This trip exceeded all of my expectations, and we (my friend Andrew and myself) ended up finding an absolute ton of reptiles and amphibians. I managed to photograph 11 new species, as well as one of the most insane sunsets I’ve ever seen. In this image I photographed an Eastern Rat Snake (in this color morph commonly known as a “Greenish Rat Snake”) rearing up in a defensive posture trying to strike at us while we took photos. Eventually he became very friendly and allowed us to pick him up.

Chris this is amazing. I want to see the rest of the pictures! Where in North Carolina?
Hey Lori!!
Thanks! Keep checking back – they will be coming.
We traveled all around NC … West of Cape Hatteras, to Croatan National Forest, to the Sandhills near Laurinburg, and then back up 95 home.
Good…. but would have been better if it was a coiled pit viper or something terribly dangerous.
A beauty! Love the light and BG.
God bless,
Paul
Very nice Chris!
Clay
Thanks Dominic, Paul, Clay, and Jimbo.
