I went out yesterday afternoon to photograph the sunset from Taft Bay Park on Oneida Lake. While the sunset was decent, I found myself engrossed instead in photographing the ice found on the edge of the lake. The strange patterns found in this photograph were quite unique from other ice that I have seen and I ended up taking only one sunset photograph. Colorful pebbles underneath the ice added the kaleidoscope of color. I believe it is often best to photograph what most inspires you. If the sunset isn’t your thing that night, don’t bother with it - the resulting images will likely be boring and uninspired.
