Moonrise During Sunset, Great Falls National Park, VA
As temperatures lowered and haze was reduced during the past 3 days, I made the trip to Great Falls National Park to photograph the sunsets. While generally bland, I did have some luck yesterday evening with a bit of pink sky. As a nice bonus, the moon was also rising in the direction of the lit up clouds. Using two rocks as a foreground, I photographed the Potomac River as it flowed downstream away from Great Falls through Mather Gorge.

That scene looks awful familiar. If that was taken on the 12th, then I was there as well. I was shooting upstream a bit and didn’t make it over this way until the color was gone from the sky. Too bad we didn’t bump into each other…

This is great! I love the blurred water.Very nice cool tones in this, too.
Happy shooting and God bless,
Paul

Hi Alex,
This is actually from the 13th. However, I was there the 12th as well, and was actually farther upstream, above the falls, as well. How did we not see each other?! We need to plan a small trip to Great Falls sometime soon.

Just checked my camera and the date is a day off. So it was, in fact the 13th that I was there. And yeah, we should get up there some time. Drop me an e-mail, I should be free a few days this week and most of next week.
