Virginia Bluebells Backlit at Bull Run Regional Park, Virginia

I think it’s finally happened. I actually like this bluebell image!

I awoke this morning to a surprise of foggy conditions. Rushing out the door without any breakfast and heading to Bull Run Regional Park, I wanted to attempt to photograph the bluebells in the foggy conditions – I figured the fog would help decongest the messy woods. As luck would have it, the fog burned off by the time I got to the park, but I decided to try and photograph the bluebells in the sunlight anyways. I’m certainly glad I did. It turns out the intense light was just the special something I needed to bring the image to life.

Pretty sweet man. Not the loads of bluebells like the last photo, but enough of them to work. The light really makes this one pop. Nice composition as well.

    good one!

I like this one too! I love the shadows and curves. I’m in Texas viewing on what appears to be an extremely poorly calibrated monitor, so the image is overall pretty dark, but I can tell this is a pretty neat one. Congrats babe! I miss you.

    Thanks guys.

Hey babe – it is pretty dark (lots of shadows), but not unrealistically (in my opinion, anyway). Can’t wait to hear what you think of it when you get back home. I miss you too … can’t wait until next weekend.

I really like everything about this shot. It looks otherworldly to me because of the abundant greenery in it. Still have some snow patches in the woods up here and flowers are still some weeks off. take care

  5. Really nice Chris!

Must be nice to be seeing some green along with wildflowers again.

    Hey Chris,

Cool image man. I like the contrast in this shot a lot. The Bluebells are looking nice. I think I will try to get my workshop group over to Bull Run this weekend if the weather permits. Hope to see you soon.

Hi Zach – Thanks man. I love the New York winters … but when April rolls around I always remember wanting spring. Sometimes the winters can be a bit too long – I guess that’s the trade off for gorgeous snow.

Ron – Thanks. It’s so nice to be seeing the green. It was 80+ today!

Hi Joe – Definitely get over there! I’ll see you soon I’m sure.
